i got a project to do and i want to find out where to get the history on flavourings, i don't know where to look, can you help me out here

Salt has been used to flavor food since pre-history.
I think most spices originated in the far east, where they
were grown, this was why Columbus and others were
in search of a route to the east. During the age of
exploration spices were extremely valuable. Without
refridgeration people ate a lot of unpalatable food and spices made it taste better.
