I caught one just a few weeks ago. It was pretty easy actually....the first time. All I had was a juice glass and the clear lid to a cd cover. As it was crawling through the grass, I held the open end of the glass in front of him and he crawled right in. I put the cd cover over the open end and...well, I had a fairly mad tarantula!
I captured him for a completely different reason though, because a family of cardinals were eyeballing him as dinner. I relocated him in my yard in some brush so he'd have some cover. When he crawled back out, I captured him again, but he gave me a bit of a run for my money since he knew what was going to happen the second time around.
If you can handle capturing him and releasing him in a less populated area, I'd say it's a fairly easy job. Also, unless you've spotted many tarantulas, you probably only have one or two.
One thing to keep in mind is that at this time of year they start roaming about trying to find mates. You may just have a bit of a randy one that has temporarily meandered through your yard. :o)

Despite their large size, Tarantulas are not dangerous and are typically slow-moving. When discovered, they can be coaxed to crawl into a can or box using a brush, broom or stick to tap them on the abdomen and guide them. Once captured, they should be released into areas away from homes.

Don't bother them, they positively won't hurt you, plus they are becoming scarce. They hibernate for the winter and you won't see them , but right now and soon they will be about, but they only scurry around and up and down your vegetation for about a month, then they will be gone! Have you heard the superstition regarding harming Tarantulas!
