No, it should not hurt you at all when applying for a four year college undergraduate as a transfer student and graduate programs. However, it is a requirement at most United States colleges and universities to take English composition. I recommend asking around for recommendations on an English composition instructor before registering for it next semester because each instructor has their own style for teaching the course. I do recommend withdrawing fast because delaying can mean less of a refund after withdrawing from a course. The refund schedule goes by how long far along the course was before the student withdrew. For more specific information, please consult your student handbook.

Withdrawing from a class is not bad, but if you withdraw from a class that you need to graduate you must remember that you still have to take it. If you have a bad teacher or a mean one, you probably should drop it. Since it is so early in the semester you may want to ride it out, it may turn around. Sometimes my teachers wait until after midterm to offer extra credit and help students out because they want to get rid of all the other students that don't do their work. Maybe you should check with your adviser. Pray before you make a decision. Good Luck.

Withdrawing from a class is perfectly fine, as long as you do it early in the semester. As a matter of fact, you SHOULD withdraw from any class that you don't feel right about. I didn't learn this until I was in my last year of college. Colud have saved my GPA if I had known earlier!
However, I suspect that English composition is a general requirement. If that is the case, you should stick it out.

It will not hurt your GPA score because it will show a W. If you tried to go through the class and get a F then it will show up on your GPA as a bad thing. Why are you dropping the class, you should not drop it unless you really need to! Good Luck in school!

No, It won't hurt you. The W won't show on your transcripts later. It is a necessary class so I suggest you try to stick with it. But whatever your reason is for wanting to drop the class now, you can take it later and no it won't hurt you. Good luck-

It won't hurt, especially since the class is not part of your major requirements (even if it is a college req.). I withdrew from two classes while an undergrad (english-type classes, as a physics major), and it didn't affect me getting into grad school at all (apparently!).

What I did and was thankful for doing was to intentionally sign up for an extra class. Then you have the luxury of dropping the worst one. If you drop it soon you gat no W even. When you see that the teacher is a jerk or whatever, just tell him or her that you signed up for too many classes. Then you never have to deal with him or her.
