Since Sulfur is in the same family as Oxygen, they share similar chemical properties. This is not true of Oxygen and Calcium/Iron/Nickel/Sodium.

Sulfur. Periodicity dictates that since sulfur is close to oxygen in the periodic table, it will display similar chemical properties. Additionally, the electronegativites are quite similar.
