I can imagine that they would only feel guilty if they didn't earn it.

You do not feel guilt if you have not done anything wrong. For the rich who have screwed with people, they will feel so much guilt that it eats them inside out. If you are poor and got rich, you will feel so humble about your new change because you have been on the other side of life. There is guilt like not giving enough money to the poor and buying stuff but that's not going to eat you alive. It's the newly rich people who have screwed someone else to get rich who get the most guilt.

People that become rich through hard work and sacrifice might feel some due to the fact they came from nothing and know how bad and tough it is and that most will never make it to this level in life. The born or inherited rich have no idea what the real world is like so they have no feelings of guilt, and should they? I dont know, but I do know that a class war is happening right now and if it ever gets real bad in this country, to be rich will mean to be in danger.

As working class individuals they knew what it was like to work hard for every penny, and they probably had cynical thoughts about the rich not doing enough for others. Now as 'nouveau riche', they often don't have to work as hard, and they tend to be reluctant to give as much to charity as they formerly believed the rich should.

Wealth can also create a gap between the newly wealthy and working class friends/relatives -- which can cause additional guilt.

Looking at people who have worked harder and longer than them and are just barely getting by. It's tough to have something when you can look at others and think that they deserved it more. Also many people are changed by wealth. I'm sure a lot of people in these forums think that if they become rich they'll give a lot away, but often greed takes over and they abandon those plans. Then a bit of guilt eats away at them. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins you know.

the feeling that you may forget where you came from or the people who helped you to get to where you are. Don't feel guilty and remember that being rich just means you have one less thing to worry about. Most importantly, don't let it go to your head!!!!!
