No your are not the only one. Hello I'm renee and I also smell my food before I eat it. We are the normal ones. We are making sure we don't eat bad food.

Please don't take this as a comparison to you because it isn't meant that way. I have four little dogs and like to sit and feed them pieces of chicken or beef, etc., by hand. Three of them just go ahead and eat it, but the Shih-Tzu mix smells every single bite I give her before she will put it into her mouth. It's so cute! She doesn't know what I'm saying, but I tell her to "go ahead and eat it, Suzy, it isn't poisoned!"

Only if it's something I've never eaten before. But I ALWAYS sniff a teabag before I brew it! Don't know why, I just LOVE the smell of tea!

Of course, especially if it's chicken. I cannot stomach chicken that is either not cleaned well or not fresh. You can smell it the closer you get to the bone.
