I'm on the birth control pills Alesse and I'm going to visit my boyfriend soon but I don't want to be on my period. My friend recommended that I just skip the green "sugar, non-hormone" pills and just start another pack of Alesse. Is there any harm in doing this?

I would only be doing this for one time. And i've also only been on the pill for about 2 months... i dunno if this would matter or not.

It would be ok to skip to placebo (green) pills and start a new pack. Some women do this anyway and only have a period every 3 months. It's called tri-cycling. There is a BC pill on the market called Seasonale that is packaged this was ( has 3 months worth of active pills with 1 week of placebo or sugar pills - you may want to ask you doctor about this next time you go.)

Its is okay to do but don't do it for very long.. The only thing i would be concerned about is the fact that you have only been on the pill for 2 months and your body still isn't used to the hormones.. But my friend takes a different kind of birth control and she just cuts out the "Sugar Pills" and goes on to a new pack..

Do it, it's fine. Some women actually continually skip periods having only one or two periods a year. It's not unhealthy. There's a new pill that's coming out that will be like that one period a year type deal and there's also seasonalle which is almost hte same as allese but instead of a sugar week every 3 weeks there's one every 3 months.

I wouldn't say that it is neccessarily harmful, but generally not recommended without a doctor's instruction. Some women (myself included) are on continuous-use BTC, which means that they never take the green sugar pills, but continue on with a new pack immediately. This is for health reasons, though, and based on the instruction of a doctor. So basically, I don't assume that it would hurt you for one month, but I would strongly urge to talk with a doctor before thinking about doing it long-term.

No. Not that you can rely on. Go see your doctor or go to planned parenthood and get a perscription. If you are not ready to make babies and support them, then be on the safe side and do not go cheap on borth control, or your might find your self with a baby. And you really shouldn't do that till you are ready for it. Go to a doctor. I promise your parents would rather have you on the pill than become grandparents before it is the right time. Good luck.

you can do this yes, the green pills are just sugar pills, but it is not recommended it could seriously mess up your system if you do this continuously. i would not recommend it all the time, but i have had friends do this occasionally. i am on the pill, but have never skipped the green.

You are not supposed to have but a certain amount of hormones and if you skip the "sugar" pill, you will get too much hormones. You do not want that to happen! :)

not really, you just skip the placebo pills and therefore skip the period. I would not recommend it two months straight, you body uses menstruation as a means to get rid of toxins as well as shedding the lining of your uterus, but you should be fine if you just do it one month.
