Okay I know you aren't a school counselor (or maybe you are..) but I'm a sophmore and I have no real solid idea yet on what I'm going to have as a career or college. I'm in CA... and I do real good in creative arts and writing/language arts in general. I'm also interested in diseases and medicine/biology things like that. What kinds of careers are out there that require strengths in these areas? And what kinds of courses would I have to take for said courses more than likely?

Thank you!

Im a college teacher, so I see students every day who end up doing 4 years and say - I dont know if I really want this after all. Then they try to find work in a totally different field then they got their degree in. So, dont feel bad if you have no idea.

What I would do is take some outside courses that might be offered at colleges near you. Try some creative writing classes, or perhaps a science course related to a field you are interested in. You might even want to research some fields online and contact people through an online/email interview. Ask them questions about their jobs, what a day is like, how much school they needed, and how much pay that offers. You will find that a lot of people are friendly and willing to offer help.

I am into media arts and animation, so I can say that overall - it pays more to go the medicine science route - both offer fullfilling endeavors, but in the end, what ever excites you most is what you should do.
Good Luck.

An artistic mind + science....believe it or not that two can be combined! This is time when you can find out if this can lead you to the career of your dreams. Making the two combine will take some creativity on your part but it doesn't sound as if that would be a problem for you. Fields in Medicine that work along with children always appreciate and need people that can put to use some artistic ability(painting, drawing, dance) that can help kids cope with difficult illnesses from physical therapy to...cancer. Know a second language you just became more in demand. If you have the opportunity to explore both your artistic and science side...do it!! Volunteer with your local hospital and find out now if you can give it all before settling on becoming a nurse or doctor. I once read an article of a woman who became an official sketcher for the police. She never imagined that her favorite past time would someday be a resource to the police. Research in science requires someone who is good at writing but also someone with a good grasp of the language to illustrate ideas and findings. Don't limit yourself to one thing you'll find that by combining both you'll find a more rewarding future.

if you have these interests, you might think about going pre-med when you get there and as for courses, it varies. Don't give up on the idea of college just yet, you still have time and options that you may not have recognized!!!!!!!
