Good grief. Give us some credit. Nobody actually believes that garbage. As children, we learn about the Canadian provinces and the general geography of the nation, as well as about its diverse culture and history. Also, at least when I was a child, we got Canadian radio and television broadcasts in both English and French, and our local merchants would accept Canadian coins (although that has since stopped).

I always knew that Canadians didn't live in igloo's, drive dogsleds, have longer minutes than we did or that all of the land was frozen. I never have even heard anyone say that Canada has $5 coins. That would be strange, but cool. I also know that the falls are beautiful!

I'm an American. I use to live in upstate NY and travelled frequently into Maniwaki, Quebec for camping with family. Your country is absolutely beautiful. I've visited some of your government buildings and some of your cities. I don't understand French but still was able to go to stores & restaurants & drive around easily because of the widespread English spoken there also. The next time I'm able to go, I'd like to visit further into the deep country and experience the absolute countryside.

I think that you Canadians are good people and very intelligent, just like us! Ignore the ignorant fools out there. They are just blabbing at the mouth and have nothing better to do with their lives at the moment. Most of the ones who see you that way are uneducated and will believe the first thing they hear. They are probably chasing Elvis or the Easter Bunny as we speak. In any case keep your cool with them. I am sure these are the same people who love Shania Twain and Jim Carrey and have no clue that they too are Canadians.

Canada is a fascinating place, in which both English and French are spoken; in which Quebec nearly seceded from; I know that my favorite book series, the Anne of Green Gables books, were set there.
I know some of the provinces: P.E. Island, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Sasketchewan, Vancouver *ransacking brain* and...um...yeah...

Please don't assume the worst of Americans! I know that the term 'American idiot' has been coined to express the worst of Americans. However, most Americans are extremely intelligent and remember...every country has its ignorant people!

No I do not really think these things about Canada.

What I know about Canada is that it is North of the US and that it is colder there and that some of our TV personalities are from Canada. I know we have friendly border relations. I know that some of the people are French speaking there; while they are Spanish speaking here.

I know that I don't have any friends from there and it would be nice to have friends from around the world.

I have a Canadian penny and nickel.

We know your laid back and nice. You have lots of snow.
Everyone on TV has big log cabins and looks like they celebrate Christmas the year around. All the movies shows lakes and cabins and docks out in the water and everyone has a boat tied to the dock. It is wild and wooly and lots of wild animals and deer.
Every movie shows racoons tearing up the kitchen while everyone sleeps upstairs. Never seen any cars?

They don't believe that- I married one- when he first heard a Canadian ask him those types of questions he thought it was absurd. Most Americans view us as "America Lite"- similar to them, just withut the oomph. After living in Canada for a year and a half, he grew to love the country and saw clear distinctions between Canadian and American culture.
