If you haven't already, start from the beginning. For niche-market music, you're never going to get any better than a movement's predecessors, as everyone who followed in a founder's footsteps is just second-rate.

For Goth Rock: Bauhaus, early Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Siouxsie. For their influences, try early (but not too early) David Bowie: (Ziggy Stardust; Man Who Sold the World).

For Industrial: Ministry, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Nine Inch Nails. For their influences: rail a bunch of drugs and stick an electric drill in your ear. Good luck!

1. Einsturzende Neubauten - German industrial/experimental/electro/noise band. They are absolutely legendary, and it's very hard to classify their music because it's so diverse. Try listening to their album Tabula Rasa. It starts out with this dark sounding electro funk song, and moves into these experimental noise songs where they use ordinary instruments as well as hammers, spanners and other tools.

2. The Birthday Party - Incredibally dark post punk/gothic (though they hated the term) band featuring a young Nick Cave. Listen to their Hee Haw! or Junkyard albums.

3. Mirag - They've released an incredible experimental/doom/gothic 2 tracker which is chock full of phase, tremolo, wah-wah etc. etc. etc. Definately for the fans of extreme experimental music. The CD is called Black temple carved in smoke.

Ministry - Check out 'A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste' and Psalm 69.

Type O-Negative - Check out Bloody Kisses and October Rust.

NIN - Check out Broken and Pretty Hate Machine

Rammestein and KMFDM are solid too.

Also give Fear Factory's 'Obsolete' and Static-X's 'Wisconsin Death Trip' a listen.

H.I.M. (His Infernal Majesty) is absolutely AMAZING.
Their website is http://www.heartagram.com.
Skillet is a pretty good band, their old stuff is much more industrial than their new stuff, but still an all-around awesome band.
http://www.skillet.org is their website.
Hope that helps!
