Are there any theories as to who these initials may belong to? Rowling leaves clues all over her work, and I am fairly certain the initials belong to a character (or characters) already referenced in an earlier book. Its well hidden, or I'm just not making the connection.

I trust those who have read the book know what my reference is and why it will be important in book 7.

The audience consensus is that R.A.B. is the initials of Regulus Black, a Death Eater and Sirius Black's relative. Further evidence is found in the Dutch version, where the initials are instead R.A.Z. The Dutch word for "black" is "zwart".

I dont think that Regulus is powerful enough to take the Horcuxe. I think that is Dumbledore's brother.
Jo said that he will appear in the 7th book, for what reason?

I believe RAB stands for Regulus Black. His middle name might be that of his father or grandfather, I do believe?
