I missed the artist, but it sounded like David Bowie. Has anyone else heard this song and do they know who sings it?

Young Americans David Bowie

They pulled in just behind the bridge
He lays her down, he frowns
"Gee my life's a funny thing, am I
still too young"
He kissed her then and there
She took his ring, took his babies
It took him minutes, took her nowhere
Heaven knows, she'd have taken anything, but

[CHORUS (She)]
All night
She wants the young American
Young American, young American, she wants the young American
All right
She wants the young American

Scanning life through the picture
window
She finds the slinky vagabond
He coughs as he passes her Ford
Mustang, but
Heaven forbid, she'll take anything
But the freak, and his type, all for
nothing
He misses a step and cuts his hand, but
Showing nothing, he swoops like a song
She cries "Where have all Papa's heroes gone"

[CHORUS (She)]
All the way from Washington
Her bread-winner begs off the bathroom floor
We live for just these twenty years
Do we have to die for the fifty more"

[CHORUS (HE)]
All night
He wants the young American
Young American, young American,
he wants the young American
All right
He wants the young American

Do you remember, your President Nixon
Do you remember, the bills you have to pay
Or even yesterday
Have been the un-American
Just you and your idol sing falsetto
'bout Leather, leather everywhere, and
Not a myth left from the ghetto
Well, well, well, would you carry a razor
In case, just in case of depression
Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors
Blushing at all the afro-Sheeners
Ain't that close to love
Well, ain't that poster love
Well, it ain't that Barbie doll
Her hearts have been broken just like you

[CHORUS (YOU)]
All night
You want the young American
Young American, young American, you want the young American
All right
You want the young American

You ain't a pimp and you ain't a hustler
A pimp's got a Cadi and a lady got a Chrysler
Black's got respect, and white's got his soul train
Mama's got cramps, and look at your hands ache
(I heard the news today, oh boy)
I got a suite and you got defeat
Ain't there a man who can say no more
And, ain't there a woman I can
sock on the jaw
And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging
Ain't there a pen that will write before they die
Ain't you proud that you've still got faces
Ain't there one damn song that can make me
break down and cry

[CHORUS (I) (repeat 3 times ad lib)]
All night
I want the young American
Young American, young American, I want the young American
All right
I want the young American

Title It'll Be Alright
Artist(s) Youth Asylum

One nation under God indivisible
with liberty and justice for all

It was just the other day oh boy
A kid had a gun instead of havin a toy
And he didn’t run from his brother
Cuz he thought it was game
And the ending is just the same
You gotta get ourselves together boy
I’m lookin for love and im lookin for joy
I’m lookin for peace on the streets
Can you count on your brother
Can we make a reality
When Marvin said “What’s Goin’ On” he said it right
So we’ll keep movin on we wont give up the fight

And it’ll be ooh yea alright
Cuz were the Young Americans
Young Americans Young Americans we are the Young Americans
Alright to be a Young American
(yea yea, that’s right, Young Americans, lets get it right this time…)

It was just the other day oh boy
Tell me our lives were bein destroyed
And there is no hope for the ghetto
Cuz the leaders don’t care
And they’re leavin us in despair
Its come to me in a better way oh boy
No time to be cruel nor time to be coy
We all took a pledge to the flag
And we count on each other
Cuz each other is all we had
When Marvin said “What’s Goin’ On” he said it right
So we’ll keep pressin on to make the future bright

Its gonna be alright
Cuz were the Young Americans
Young Americans Young Americans we are the Young Americans
Alright to be a Young American
Together we’d stand
(oh together…)
Divided we’d fall
(oh we’d fall, we’d fall…)
But when we stand strong
(when we’ll stand strong…)
We fight through it all
(fight through it all…)
Tomorrow is new for the red white and blue
(Tomorrow is new…)
So let’s show them why
Without a scythe (?)

Wake up wake up wake up
Young America awake from the sleeping state
Racism add fuel to the fire of hate (that’s right…)
Let’s extinguish the flame with the waters of love
Let peace spread like the wings of a dove
The earth is dyin
And our lives are slowly endin
Open moves of despair
Scar tissue you never mended
So everybody join in the revolution
Don’t be caught in the problem
Lets make a solution
Unh clap your hands, clap your hands
Young America clap your hands
Young Americans, (We…) Young Americans (are the…)
We are the Young Americans
(Young Americans…)
Alright oh so hold on
Hold on just a little while longer
(bout to hold on yall…)
Hold on just a little while longer
(one more time unh…)
Hold on just a little while longer
(two times two times…)
Young Americans Young Americans we are the Young Americans
(its gonna be…)
It’ll be alright hold on just a little while longer
Young Americans Young Americans we are the Young Americans
It’ll be alright yea we’re the Young Americans Young Americans Young Americans
It’s gonna be a bright day oh boy…
