Let me know when you figure it out - I have that problem too.
Seriously, it's very difficult. I've been in college two years now and I still have difficulties. Sometimes I go somewhere where there's no distractions and make myself focus on schoolwork. If your work includes the computer, do everything you can before getting on so you won't be tempted to surf the net while typing your essay or whatever.

Set yourself a timer so that you take a break--this way you are focused on your work and know you can take a small break afterwards.
Give yourself a reward after finishing x amount of questions or pages. Make it something small, like you get an M&M for every question you finish or for bigger work done, you get to spend 30 minutes in Yahoo Answers after finishing the rough draft of an essay. ;)
Write out a list of the reasons why it's important to you to do well in your course. If need be, write them on sticky notes and place them around your study area. Review these reasons often--not often during your study period, but daily, more than once.
Set up a schedule where you don't let yourself do certain things until you've done a certain amount of work. What I mean by that is let's say you have 1.5 hours between your last class and dinner. Put it in your schedule that you have to get in an hour of work before you go off to dinner.
Make sure you have a good study environment set up. A good chair, sufficient lighting, a glass of water, few distractions. Disable your internet if you have to. ;)
Ultimately, it's a matter of making yourself do what you don't want to do.

ya just gotta do it! Sometimes it helps me to think of the end goal. Or, I weigh the pros & cons of doing it. The pros would be that I would at least get SOME points even if it's not the greatest. The cons would be that I would get ZERO points & feel like an idiot when everyone else is turning their papers in. Another pro would be that the sooner you get it done, the less time you have to wonder about what you 'should' be doing. Since you're in college now, you're an adult, and that means that you have the choice to do your work or not. Ultimately--you're paying for the education, I'm suggesting that you take advantage of that & get the best education you can!

Close your door. Shut down your computer. Put all of your supplies near you. Play some classical music (or music you don't know the words to) on a low volume. Turn off the TV...close your blinds on the windows if you have to. But it's good to have a bright atmosphere to work in. Then focus on one thing at a time...always works for me!

It helps to just pick something and start it. Work on one assignment for 30 minutes, then take a 10 minute break, then continue it for another 30 mins and take a 5 minute break, then just choose an amount of time (say an hour) and work straight thru for that entire time.

I used to just buckle down and do my homework right after class. That way I am still in the "learning mode" and then I could look forward to fun stuff after the work is done, and not feel guilty about still having to do homework.

I'm doing the same thing - but I'm out of college! It's so addictive! You just have to turn off the computer - go somewhere else to study...

Set goals,
For Example if you like to lift weights or play basketball, you can say "I won't lift weights or play basketball until i finish my work"
