So, no white history month?Maybe in 20 years when white people are a minority in this country we can have one.And then affirmative action will be fair.and white people can march for "equal rights".

..and a Black Caucus in Congress? Aren't those just two small examples of racial bias favoring blacks?
If you think we should have, say, an Italian history month, as proposed by another answerer, consider this -- blacks' ancestors were from many different countries, mostly on the African continent. Having an "Italian" day, week, or month isn't fair because it focuses on just one country.
Should we have a day, week or month for each country? or just one for the entire continent, which could be called African History Month (or Day, or Week, or whatever), Asian History Month (Day, Week, etc), and so on. There could even be a North American History Month (day, Week, etc) for those of us who were born here.
Perhaps we could have a day, week, or month for every country that has contributed to the population of the United States. That way, everyone here can be represented. And don't forget Antarctica, because all those penguins that are now residents of the US can't be ignored.

Let me refer you to this thought first said by the late American Western Actor John Wayne in a 1976 album called "America Why I Love Her".
Out of print I think now, but this can be found either at amazon or heard at terrificmusic.com under "America" section.
The "song" was called a Hyphen and the lyrics said "Webster's dictionary tells us a hyphen is used to divide two or more compound words. So when a person calls themselves a Africian American, an Anglo American, An Italian American, etc... what they're really saying is that they're a DIVIDED American."
If poeople would ever learn to focus on similarities then lives like Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King's, even Jesus wouldn't be in vain.
Why have a month to remind us of a sordid, divided bloody past?
Why not look for commonality not division?
Celebrate untiy, not create segregation?

Black History Month is celebrated annually in the United States in the month of February. Carter G. Woodson chose the second week of February for ***** History Week in 1926 because it marks the birthdays of two men who greatly influenced the black American population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Later on in 1976, as the nation reached its bicentennial, the week was expanded into an entire month. However, February has much more than Douglass and Lincoln to show for its significance in black American history.
* February 23, 1868: W.E.B. DuBois, important civil rights leader and co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), was born.
* February 3, 1870: The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed, granting blacks the right to vote.
* February 25, 1870: The first black U.S. Senator, Hiram Rhodes Revels, took his oath of office.
* February 12, 1909: The NAACP was founded by a group of concerned and moderate black, Jewish and white citizens in New York City.
* February 1, 1960: In what would become a civil-rights movement milestone, a group of black Greensboro, North Carolina, college students began a sit-in at a segregated Woolworth's lunch counter.
* February 21, 1965: Malcolm X, the militant leader who promoted Black Nationalism, was shot to death by three Black Muslims.
And for the 'person' above me, you might want to do a little research before ya go poppin' off at the mouth about a topic you know very little about.

They have a "month" because they went through the processes... it's not available only to them. It takes time and a lot of effort but if someone wants something done.. and goes out and works at it.. then those are the results... an entire month. You can have one too... but it's not just gonna be handed to a certain race just because they say they want one.... there are steps that need to be taken.
So get up off all your cry baby a**es and do something about it!
"anessa" .. it's "Hispanics" like you..... that make "Hispanics" like me ... look bad.
