Matsui's impressive debut tonight after his wrist injury in early May served as a reminder to Yankee fans just how cluttered their outfield is. Whether a blessing or a curse, New York has already signed Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon, and Bobby Abreu to extended contracts, leaving star rookie Melky Cabrera and fan favorite Bernie Williams out of the loop.

Joe Torre has already hinted that the left-field position (at least for the remainder of the season) belongs to Cabrera by intending for Matsui to DH, leaving Bernie out in the cold.

If you were in Joe Torre's position, what would you do? Why?

Some dilemma. Every team in the league would kill to have the Yankees problem. The real dilemma is this. It's my opinion that Bernie Williams has a great shot at the hall of fame but needs to keep his batting average around .295 hit 300 home runs and collect 2500 hits. Right now his lifetime average is .297 with 286 homers and 2328 hits. He's a Yankee but he might have to move on in order to reach these numbers. I would hate to see it.

As far as the rest of the outfield, Damon in center, Matsui in left and a healthy Sheffield in right. If Sheffield isn't healthy Abreu takes over right. The Yankees really need Sheffield's power.

Anyway you look at it the Yankees will be loaded once again. If they can pick up Barry Zito in the off season, which I think they will, next summer should be a blast!!

Bernie still has fire left in him without him the Yankees wouldn't be the Yankees you love and a little bit of new blood wouldn't hurt Melky Cabrera has alot of potential and he's going to be the next big thing for the Yankee's franchise the same goes for Matsui and Johnny the caveman Damon. If I were Joe I would still keep Bernie in the lineup regardless.

Cluttered? It's called depth. Geez, you know next season there will be some trades to upgrade the pitching but I'd take what they have any day.

If I was Torre, you're playoing Matsui in LF, Damon in CF and Abreu in RF. My guess is Bernie DHs and Melky is a PH and late-inning defensive replacement for now.

Bernie will probably be let go or retire after 2006 anyway.

First off this is a postion that all the other teams in the MLB wish they were in. Now i would bench Williams leave Melkey out in the field Matsui would DH that is if/or until Shef comes back then i would think you'd have to put Matsui in at Right if he has the arm to throw and put Shef at DH or if Torre thinks Shef can go back to right then put him out there. I'm not sure if Bernie still has the cannon needed to field in right

i think of the Dallas Cowboys QB is the main glamorous place in all of activities with the Yankees middle fielder a particular 2d. It has extra to do with spotlight than extremely capability however the Cowboys have had some great QB during their existance.... finding on the Cowboys QB; Don Meredith Roger Staubach Danny White Troy Aikman Tony Romo All of those gamers have been professional Bowlers, 3 are contained in the Cowboys Ring of Honor and a pair of are contained in the professional soccer corridor of attractiveness. the main important hollow between great QBs substitute into from Aikman to Romo yet different than that lapse something have been one after the different.

He should just admit that everyone in the Yankees organization has sold their soul to the devil and forfeit this whole season so the Red Sox can get into the playoffs.
