At about 3 months their gas problems end. They will be able to burp on their n, however I suggest you still take about 10-15 seconds trying to burp him/her. It will be more convenient for them.

4-9 Months.
If you stop burping and your baby begins to have problems, such as having a lot of gas, spitting up often, or being fussy, then you may have to resume burping again. Each baby is different.

Babies will burp at birth. If not they will become cranky little critters. If you baby is not burping by patting her on the back , just sit him/her in your lap, support their head and raise their ams up over their head, they will belch out a good one every time.

It is not so much burping on their own as they stop swallowing as much air when sucking.

well is ann is wrong....a baby can burp at anytime maybe on its first weeks.....days.....or right after its finished with its breast milk or formula.......or if the baby is older with other types of food and drinks,,,,,
