it seems like spiders and other bugs are always in the shower, or other areas of the bathroom. They could come from an open window, but I always find more in that room than other rooms with windows.

Many nocturnal invertebrates will be attracted to the lights like moths which in turn attract the spiders creating a short food chain. Others are attracted by the moisture, for example, millipedes and isopods (woodlice) or the darkness into cracks, for example, cockroaches (thigmotactic species).

Bathrooms have the easiest path to the house for an insect. They travel along the pipes and drains to gain access and the odor of a bathroom is a natural attractant.

I just had that argument with my brother. I said they must be coming up the drain pipes. He said they must be crawling out of the attic through the vent. I guess you can choose who you think is correct if either.
