My mom wants me to help her find something on her computer and she's in another state. Is there a way that I can access her computer files if I find her serial number or whatever it's called?

Yes, if you have WindowsXP, go to start, help and support and type in remote assistance. Follow the instructions there. Make sure that you do not have any viruses as you can pass them back and forth that way
