What charateristics do modern cowboys have, do they have to ride horses?

Is it just county music and dress, are you a cowboy?

It seems like a cowboy needs something to do with cows, somehow.

Otherwise, it seems like just country and western dancers

I've met a few actual cowboys who prefer rock to country, andif you want to go where the cattle have gone when you are rounding them up, you pretty well have to go by horse. or dirt bike, which scares the crap out of the cattle, and you can never catch them
