Machivellianism is on the one had rule through terror and treachery and the so-called art of the prince on the other.

The latter concept involves the idea of literally using people for short term gains and often destroying the evidence for the sake of public or popular image. The former often is simply controlling situations by threats, intimidation cohesion and torture.

Benito did fancy himself a Roman prince and did control the Fascist Party using those kinds of ideas!

He was considered a Machiavellian ruler because he did whatever was necesary to get what he wanted. Machiavelli stated in his writing " The Prince" that "The end justifies the means." Which basically says do whatever is needed to get what you want.

If he was a true Machiavellian ruler he would of switched loyalties when he had the chance and thus not end up strung up at a service station.

ah, yes another one of those power crazed leos, with scorpio rising, as i recall. let 54 has it right, like karl rove(erer), whose uncle, i believe, was an SS bigwig, peoples' fates should never stand in the way of your will to power. kind of describes the average psychopath does it not? how was he machiavellian? his agenda included using any and all falsehoods, manipulations, violence and "dirty tricks" conceivable to fulfill his goals. bloated egos, usually with bodies to match, rule in the higher realms of politics and corporatism, do they not? they usually do on earth. the kind, sane and gentle are seldom found in their ranks. good luck to us all ;-)
