Greeks. Studied 'em, learned the old and modern language, drooled over the Greek guys in college. Better philosophy, better religion, better empire, better government, better food. Better architecture. Better art. If Romans did anything good, they usually swiped something from another culture and reworked it a little bit and called it "Roman." Italians are an OK bunch, but the Romans were pretty lame.

Oh, and English/Spanish dude, you're wrong. English is a Germanic language, and Spanish is a Romance language (comes from Latin. Like, y'know, *Rome*?) English has a lot of Greek words in it, like psychology, hypodermic, egotistic--most of them came in the language in the 1800s because there were a lot of discoveries and inventions and there weren't enough English words to go around. English has always borrowed vocabulary freely from whomever it pleases.

the romans had a strong,vast empire. the greeks started the olympics(i believe). i'm going to have to go with the romans.
