i'm writing an essay for my english class and i keep repeating "continue" and "goes on"

any synonyms for these two would be great. thanks.

To be in existence or in a certain state for an indefinitely long time: abide, endure, go on, hold out, last, persist, remain, stay. See continue/stop/pause.
To begin or go on after an interruption: pick up, renew, reopen, restart, resume, take up. See continue/stop/pause.
