I was at work with a group of people that grew to about 10 as the events progressed. Started out with our controller coming to me to see if the dept. I managed had a TV around because she heard on the news that a plane had hit the 1st tower. The group grew to include 2 accountants and an engineering tech. No shortage of education in this group. We watched the 2nd plane hit and the buildings collapse in total silence. No one even wondered out loud what was happening after the 2nd plane came in. The pentagon incident happened and there was a report of a bomb at the state dept. that proved untrue. Nothing was said, not a question or comment, until we had a meeting later in the day to decide whether to close for the day. The word you need is a word used to describe a degree of evil that probably hasn't been uttered since Jewish people in the camps talked about their captors and executioners or a word that some petty officer on the USS Arizona screamed as the Japanese bombed and strafed him during church services on deck. Infamy isn't it . Thats too polite. The rest of us wouldn't have reason to know it. Maybe some medieval term that was used to describe demonic aggression. Maybe I feel too strongly about it. People at peace brutally murdered for no reason that they could know. Murdered because they live in a country that allows them to live free and make their own choices. I think maybe you are the only person in English class with the right mind about the subject.

As the other post said, some people are sheep. For them, it is easier to do what someone tells them to do than to think for themselves. They then get stuck linear thinking and don't know HOW to think independendently.
I was home alone with my four month old son. I had just been rejoicing that he had learned to roll over by himself and was having so much fun doing it. I sat down to watch the Today show for a few minutes. They were at commercial break and when it came back on, the first plane had just hit and Matt Lauer was trying to get details. I saw the second plane on the screen before it hit. I sat there and the only time I got up the rest of the day was to pickup my son and hold him. I don't know how much time passed before I realized I was crying. I whispered "Oh my God" a few times when the attacked were just starting, but as things escalated, I said "Oh ****". I will forever see all those people walking around covered in gray dust with those huge eyes and terrified looks on their faces. I couldn't believe when the towers actually started to come down and I could only cry and say "No" I was in such disbelief that I didn't call anyone and if my phone had rung, I probably wouldn't have heard it. I stayed up for days watching the aftermath even though I was taping it. I knew it would later get filtered and edited. On that day I knew my son was growing up in a different world than I had ever known.

I sat with a slowly growing crowd to watch the TV in the cafeteria, we could see the smoke and upper floors of the world trade center from our offices in NJ. We all sat in silence looking from the TV to the building off in the distance. We were there without saying a word, in shock.

The first guy to see the second plane turn into the screen yelled "Holy F**k!!!" I sat there a moment frozen and got up knowing my rescue squad would be going into the city. Before I got out of the parking lot my pager was going off.

I still have a hard time describing my emotions and wouldn't try to describe what I saw there. I think people who can easily desribe the events don't really remember them.

I was 6 months pregnant and felt helpless...I so wanted to do something...I wanted to run and join the AF but couldnt. I thought OMG it is going to be so hard being responsible for another human in a world like this. I really felt scared and worried about the type of world I was bringing a child into. I will soon be joing the Af afterall as a Registered Nurse, its time to serve my country as it has served me.

I totally agree with toe poe gee.............your response seemed more than perfect to me, keep thinking like that and you will go far, BUT I would do what he said and ADD at the bottom this is my TRUE feelings on the subject not what I was told to say and proceed to write the above.........................

to cover what he wants go with fear, pain, loss, grief, worry, concern for loved ones, death, destruction, anger, madness, sadness at what the world had come to .............etc etc basically what he is actually asking you for is to open your mind and be CREATIVE........although as a teacher I most certainly would have given you a damm good grade if only for your honesty and insight.

That was the most shocking think that had ever happened to me. Everyone I know was in complete shock.

I really wish that Americans would have stopped and reflected before they gave the president a blank check. I believe that OBL would have already been caught and executed.

I just stared and looked at the TV in shock. It was exactly one year to the day I was there in the building.I took this spectacular picture of the Twin Towers. It was at an angle and showed them in the sky with clouds. Everybody calls my picture tragic yet beautiful.
