It was prescribed to me to regulate my menstrual cycle (not as a contraconceptive) but I'm scared to have it for any side effects it might have. Ive ever taken any contraconceptives or hormones before.

Its very different for different women. There are also many different types of oral contraceptives available. Most women will say that there are side effects, but most these side effects are minor and not enough to counteract the benefits of taking oral contraceptives. If you are experiencing side effects while taking the pill, chances are that most of these are temporary or can be alleviated by taking a higher dosage or a different type of pill. I had a problem with the lose-dose pill - according to my OB/GYN, the lose dose pills are known to produce side effects - much more than the regular type of pill.

The side effects of oral contraceptives is rare. OVer the years, they have come up with low hormone, minimal side effect pills. The risk comes if you are a smoker and over a certain age. If yu are sexually active, taking an oral contraceptive does not stop the spread of HIV or other STD's.

i have been taking oral crontraceptives for 7 years and i heard about a vaginal ring tried and I LOVE IT ! you don't have to remember a pill everyday, it has the lowest hormonal dose of any pill and it really regulates your period. i always know down to the hour when i will start my period

They have side effects, however they vary from each person. Just try it out and see what happens and how it works for you.
