because girls expect the guys to do everything that whats hes probably trying to say that he wants to go out with you now you have to say something to get you 2 closer

Because some guys are afraid of rejection. he thinks that if he tells you that "he likes you" then it will give you the idea. and he wouldn't be moving so suddenly, just in case you didn't like him back. but to give him the hint.........FLIRTATION IS THE BEST POLICY (if thats how you spell it)

not all guys want to date you just because they say they like you. maybe they just want to be friends and nothing more .. and sometimes they mean like you as in want to date you but in this case it means like you as a friend but don't want to date you not my type of girl...
