H. "Auf Zwei Planeten" by Kurd Lasswitz, or the English translation "Two Planets".
Its about some scientists/explorers go to the North Pole and discover a Martian colony there. It is what inspired von Braun into rocketry. Its out of print, but you may want to have a dictionary on hand since sometimes his terms can be confusing, but other times rather easy to understand. You might be able to find a copy at Amazon.com in their used books selection. It may be a little older then War of Worlds by Wells. The imagination in Lasswitz book is very amazing since it was written in 1897 or some credit as being from 1888, but any way it was not translated into English until about 1971 which itself is an abridged version that was reprinted in Germany in 1969. This book was also banned by the Nazis according to Wikapedea for the Martians were too democratic.

H: None of these. My favorites are the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede and Gerald Morris' Arthurian retellings. I do like the Harry Potter series though.
