I was wandering since so many people in the world use P2P programs (ex.Limewire) to download illegal music. Is it really fair for police to make someone pay for doing such a thing since alot of people do it? I think they've pretty much dropped it. Whats your opinion

Yes, absolutely. I own a site called http://www.lyricvault.com and I have spoke to many people in the music industry trying to obtain a lyric license (long process, that I think I have finally got a solution to starting early next year, possibly sooner). I have spoke to the RIAA and they are actively cracking down on illegal sites but they are doing it with less of a public relations nightmare than before. They are trying to change the world's current perception that the RIAA are a bunch of jerks. However, the law is the law and they are very interested in enforcing it, they just plan to do it in a more publicly acceptable fashion.

i think it's impossible for law enforcement to go after people who use programs to download music. their children might be doing it, they don't care. they are not going to waste their time catching people who have a right to use the internet. i think that is a rumor. they go after the company that is allowing it to happen, such as Napster. the only reason Napster stopped letting people download music for free, is b/c a music artist sued them.

now, you have to pay to use Napster. i think the reason why limewire has lasted so long, is b/c limewire has an option for you to upgrade and pay. i don't use limewire that much, b/c it's so easy to get viruses. and if you get the limewire upgrade, it has a anti-virus blocker or whatever.
