Do not expect more - reduce depression by involving in small small activities like hobbies, etc.
Talk to more people, more time.. (but good people whom you have trust)

Depression is generally situational and/or reactive mood. you've not specified here the cause for depression whether its the environment, psychological or physiological factor.
But in general
1. You can talk to someone who will listen to you attentively.
2. Accept realities of the world
3. Don't make any important decisions
4. Exercise, eat properly & regularly, socialize
You also need to understand every person is different and behaves differently, and work their own way based on their experiences. So there is no "1 Size fits all" Recommendations
Problem are big or small based on your view point.

You need to find out what the root of your depression is. Everyone goes through ups and downs. I had a major depression phase going for almost 2 years. It was because I was not studying what I truly wanted to, I was trying to please the people around and as a result it was taking it's toll on me. Fortunately for me, i figured it out, i have been able to take up my true passion now and I am looking forward to every day life has to offer me.
Sometimes, it's just about thinking about yourself. I am not telling you to be selfish. But what makes you happy? where does your passion lie? You should cater to those needs. Dont be reckless ofcourse and run off with someone else's husband because you are "catering to your need" haha. But for real, pick up hobbies, get more involved with things that catch your fancy. If there is something not right in your life, like a fight between you and someone, take the first step and apologize to them (even if it wasn't your fault). Try to live right and I'm sure you will be able to turn that frown upside down!
On a more personal note: not to shove religion down your throat, but I am a christian, and I find myself more peaceful and happy when I am walking with God. Just a thought...

I was once in the same situation .
follow these 5 mantra's
1. try to meditate,join Art Of Living Classes(they come free for deserving students)
2.go to a beach and shout out loud yelling all the injustice done to you
3.just go and sit in temple
4. try to be in busy place like shopping mall or market
5.try social work when you realise there are others less blessed than you you will come out of depression
so start today all the best.
one last thing never be alone
may peace be with you

If you are going through difficult times, and that what makes you depressed, please say this to yourself "This too shall pass". Nothing is permanent, so is your bad time.
If you are depressed because you have not achieved something that you wanted to achieve, dont lose heart. Remember Robert Bruce's story. Look for your inspiration to get up and get going.
If you are depressed because some one you loved did not reciprocate, do not worry. You will find your true love soon.
Hope, courage, perseverence, and ability laugh are essential to keep going. Tough times never last...tough people do. You are mentally tough. you can make it.

ever second person in this world is depressed. so stop worrying and start working i had this thought this morning '13th sep.' i was all depressed. so find your key to deep- press your depression.
i am sure you will come out of it. be happy dear!
1 eat what u love the most.
2 go and watch 'laga raho muna bhai'
3 go and play something.
4 talk to your friends
5 try to buy something new, a shirt, book, pen, and tell to yourselves hi! this is a gift which i have given to myself on my depressed day.
these r just dark cloud one day they will go away.

im depressed all the time.
but
im different than most people.
i listen toscreamo or emo music when im depressed.
or
write poems.
or write in my online blog.
you gotta let it out somehow.
and
thats how i do it.
lol.
and
i cry alot too..
and
i hope whatever your depressed about gets better.
i dont like seeing people depressed even though i am all the time.
