I know I may sound biased, as I am a kid and I have used this to answer homework questions. However, I don't use this to ANSWER the question. I only use it to verify, or check, my answer. If somebody solely uses this to answer their questions, then that's basically cheating, and I don't think that's okay.

Ideally, kids should get homework help from their parents.
We ("we" being myself and my husband who is a high school teacher) don't have a problem with kids asking for a little help. If you don't quite understand something and you're at home and need a little help, that's fine.
What we do have a problem with is when kids copy their homework assignments word for word and ask for the answers. School is about learning facts, yes, but it is also, and I believe mainly, about learning a way of thinking... learning a thought process. How will kids learn anything if they are having other people do their work for them?
The kids who ask for a little help with a question *about* an assignment are trying... the kids who copy and paste their assignments and want someone to give them all the answers are just plain lazy.

No. This forum is a crutch. Computers and calculators are a crutch. I graduated from high school and college without the use of a computer. This forum replaces scholastic discipline and hinders the learning process. Invest in an encyclopedia, dictionary, and thesaurus. Children should read an article of length in the newspaper to a parent on a daily basis.

That's a good, thoughtful question. For help in understanding something, for explanations, or for examples, it seems fine. However, when one simply enters their homework questions into the computer, it is extremely obvious that that person is using it as a substitute for learning, which is almost like a sort of brain suicide. It depends on how it is used, like all technology.

If they are looking for sources, and want some help finding them I'd say that's okay, but if they want an actual answer for a book report or a homework assignment, I'd say no.

No, that defeats the purpose of homework--self-reliance and experience-gaining. Getting answers on Yahoo is like getting answers from your parents.
