Excellent question. I truly believe that the gradual decline of our moral standard that lead America into this mess. Just an example, a few days ago, some one asked a question as to whether it is OK to pocket a $20 dollar bill found on the floor in a restaurant. Eight out of ten said it is OK. Scary isn't it. What happened to our honor system? these may just be the same people that some day run for office?

Our government reflects its constituency. If we are low with out own standards, we put up with those that are low in moral and ethics also. I am happy to see our universities beginning to offer ethics classes. But I think real social changes will take two generations.

Try running for office. I did. I got my views known, and even helped direct the other candidates into positions they would not normally have taken.

Also, vote out the incumbents. That's the biggest thing right there.

Unfortunately, locals feel their politician is good, so they re-elect them. But if incumbent this November, vote them out.

And I am not a D or an R . I am an American who shares most values with all Americans.

But I do think if we have a D Congress, we need an R president, and Visa versa to help with checks and balances.

So this year, even though I hate my candidate, I'm going with the D's to put this president back into check.

That would be a start.

We couldn't care less about voting and acting for the common good, everything is "what's in it for me" or they just vote for who has the most or best adds on TV with all the money that pays for them, with no thought to where the money comes from, look what happened in Utah the guy who won was pro amnesty and open borders but the republicans threw huge amounts of money into that campaign because their guy was being defeated in all the poles and they wound up reelecting him, is that dopey or what?, the people of Utah were bought plain and simple and I don't know if they even realize it.

Diversity and lack of choice. Americans have become very lazy for the most part when comes to politics. Why do politicians spend millions of dollars to get elected to relatively low paying jobs ? To make matters worse, the in-breeding in political circles has left us with another one like the other one. As they say, when choose the lesser of two evils, you still choose evil.

Vote & Pray. I'm with you. I wish we could unite as ONE and do all we can to better ourselves as a whole. Too much time and money is spent defending political party issues instead of governmental issues that need to be addressed.

We could start by getting rid of the electoral college and having direct vote. We could also go to local meetings such as school board meetings so we'll know what's going on.

First step, dump the current Congress and elect people who will do their job and follow the laws.

Second step, repeat first step as often as necessary to get the point across.

Seems to me it is because "WE" can't agree on anything as a people, AND we are a capitalistic society.
