in the july'06 issue of "smithsonian" there's an interesting piece by joe robinson, author of the book "work to live," that gives some nice comparisons between how americans don't take/get as much time off as the rest of the world. he is also founder of the group "work to live," which advocates more generous vacations and a US minimum paid leave law.
