It may not be sold in cans but it is packed in cans. After Hurricane Katrina we got water in cans from the national guard. I think probably people don't think of purity when they see it in cans so it is more marketable in bottles.

Part of the answer is marketing psychology. We want to associate water with purity. Glass (or even plastic) seems pure because you can see the clear water through it. You can not see what is in a can. Is it pure? You don't know and (like any intelligent mammal) you are wary before you drink "unknown" water. Hope this helps. Interesting, huh?

Well firstly, there is the problem of rust, so that takes out long storage periods and the water getting contaminated. Cans cannot reseal so that would mean drink all now or else. I guess it would be more expensive.

There is a great need to reseal a the water container. You cannot reseal a can.
Nameless level 3 that referred to Katrina. The reason you got that is soda and beer companies will stop canning beer and soda and can water. Its part of their civic participations.

It's more expensive and less convinient than plastic bottles. That would be my guess.
