No, it's not. Get a Sandisk 4GB player that can hold 1000 songs for $180 instead of an Apple 2GB iPod that can hold only 500 songs. Or for $100 more you can get a 30GB Creative Labs player that can hold 7500 songs, at $300-ish. iPods are VERY VERY VERY mediocre players, but they have outstanding marketing. That's all it is: a lot of flashy ads hiding a bad product.

I used to sell MP3 players a lot at Circuit City, so I know what I'm talking about. Do the research yourself if you don't believe me.

Absolutely. You can get your music from your CDs. Just load them into iTunes, which is a free download.

I love my iPod. It is an older one, only 20 gig, but I no longer have CDs lying around my house or my car, I use the FM transmitter to broadcast to my car radio.

I have an FM receiver for it, if I want to listen to radio,

I replace my big rack system stereo and my smaller stereo with some little speakers on a book shelf.

I also use it to record my classes and listen to books.

Don't bother with the shuffle or Nano, you for $50 more, you can get a lot more storage.

I just read some other comments. Car dealers are building the dock into cars. That is not just marketing.

We bought the extended warranty...a friend dropped a bolt cutter on his, big dent, still worked, but they replaced it. Another friend crushed hers, she used it to record her classes. She went to the Apple store, in 15 minutes they had taken the hard drive out of her iPod and put it in a new one and she was on her way. This was also a refurbished iPod that she had bought.

For I think it is $300 you can get 30 gig. You can't beat that.

I like the nanos, but I use mine for running. Ipods are cool, get your music from you're CD's or download them. Limewire is good for music sharing. Make your own movies using software like 3PG converter.

buy a video right after they come out with a new ipod. it went down $20 on Amazon today. i would get my music on itunes for individual songs and amazon for albums

Personally I think Zen Creative is better because it's got better features and battery life and the thing lasts longer.

an ipod is worth the money 'cause you can put a whole bunch of songs on it. unlike a c.d player you have to carry a whole lot of Cd's you want to listen to

yah its worth the money i dont have a ipod but i have a mp3 player and i love it and ipods are much better. you can go to www.download.com and get this thing called morpheus or kazza or something i get my music form morpheus its pretty good
