All teams work with a salary cap but i believe new teams have a bit more flexibility for the first 2 seasons.You should remember that Matt rogers will be 32 when he starts with the titans and that would be considered in the modern game as "OLD"

As the others have said, the Gold Coast does have a salary cap.

I will add these additional things;
- Matt will not be joining until 2008, not 2007. Most of their other signings will be for 2007.
- Matt is only on a salary of $300,000. If he was offered something like $400,000-$450,000 then you may be able to say they are exceeding their salary cap.

Also, do not forget some of their players for 2007 are already 'old', and may have only signed for one season. I have not kept up to date on the issue.

All rugby league teams have a salary cap. Some abuse it at times and have over many years.. I am so please Mat is coming back to rugby league. Steve Rogers was from my era and was a legend. Mat is a damn good player as well. I wish him well.
Thank you for this question.

OMG I love Mat soooo much, I am devastated by this news. Well everyones' given you the answer but I can tell you that he will earn $300 000 now instead of his Wallaby $650 000. WOW, and he will be playing near where I live, woohoo. Anyone else like Rogers?!
Peace
