From a Labor and Delivery Nurse you should be in the hospital being induced if you are 5 cm dilated, especially because this is not your first kid. You could start contracting and deliver real fast. Yes, it is possible to get to 5 cm and not dilate any more. You made need a little pitocin to get you delivered. Once you have one baby your cervix gets real stretchy and it starts to dilate much sooner than in your first pregnancy. If you don't deliver before Thursday good luck!

I can not remember how far I was I was in labour and in hospital my contractions were going well and coming every 5 minutes and then they peated out I was all over the place the pains got less and harder to detect they told me as I was all ready started to contract I could not go home they moved me to another bed where I stayed the rest of the night this was about midnight or so. I could not sleep as the pains were still coming but not bad but bad enough to keep me awake. The next morning the nurse came in and asked how I was going I told her still the same. they ended up inducing me. It took quiet a few times for the stuff to work they came back every 5 minutes or so and bumped up the drip to make it faster. Then all of a sounded it started right away about every minute or so it was a long and hard labour for me but worth it in the end. My son is now 19 years old.

Yes that is possible. I was stuck at five for a couple of days but the doctor admitted me. I had to walk around the hospital to try and dilate more but eventually i ended up being induced.

well hun, yes it is heard of and it can happen, but also you need to go into the hospital and call your doctor and find out what he says. Walking helps, and so does squats if you can get down that far!:) doing upward thrusts helps as well where you lie on the floor and slightly thrust your bum in an upward position. and open legs help too... where you lay and open and close your legs. I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new baby when he/ she comes!!!!
