Toxic Shock Syndrome, or TBS, happens when you leave a tampon in for too long. You should only leave a tampon is for 4-6 hours. I suggest that at night you switch to a pad. Don't be worried TBS is VERY UNCOMMON.

As stated by others it typically occurs when you leave a tampon in for too long. Your body reacts to the excess which causes a toxic reaction.
Just follow the directions and remove the tampon as directed or when it becomes heavily soaked and you should be fine.

it is when you leave your tampon in for way longer than you are supposed. Only leave it in for 4-6 hours(as the instructions tell you) and you will be safe. Don't be scared to use tampons if you use them right...people can die from TSS, but that is because they left their tampons in for a day or longer

one way to still be able to use tampons and reduce the risk of tss is to alternate wearing tampons and pads when you are just sitting around wear the pad and when you go swimming wear the tampon but make sure you change it every 4-6 hours or as soon as you are done swimming

i used tampons for over 30 yrs. never got toxic shock. just have to make sure you change them when they are full and never wear them longer than eight hours!

It's where you leave the tampon in for to long. When you buy tampons from the supermarket or where ever you buy them ready the instructions that come with them or you to www.libra.com that site should have everything you need to know

I have no idea..because i hate tampons and i have never wear them before. I hear scary stories from women all the time regarding tampons...please go see your doc. Try not to use that stupid thing next time!

actually it is 4-8 hours and i got it last night and i never thought i would get it. it was AWFUL i thought i would die my teeth were shaking and god it was just awful! i slept with it in and it was in for 8.5 hours and i didn't think it would happen cause ive kept it in for 11 hours before and i got nothing so always be aware of it because it is a horrible thing. BE CAREFUL

well i know that you get it because she u leave the tampon in for more than a day or 2, there has been girls that have died from this because they just ignored it

yes, when my mom was young she got it and had to go to emergency. walking around with something up in you ...that IS a shock!
