Fundamentally. Massively. Significantly. And quickly.
And yes, I have specific achievable alternative suggestions for how.

I wrote the following in answer to a question on whether the Constitution should be re-written. I do believe that the framers intended that we constantly pursue improving our government. However, I do not think that that we can improve solely through Constitutional revision. I have been working at the local level, where each community member has a face, a family, a home, a place of employment, trying to convince people that it is to their benefit to regularly devote time to issues of government. We must work for cultural change toward government.
If the Constitution were to be re-written, I believe it would have the blessing of at least some of the framers. Thomas Jefferson, in writing the Constitution, understood that it wasn't perfect. He also said, "the world is is for the living, not the dead." In addition, the times dictate a changed role for government. All the science and technology, and in particular, the internet, that we have today create new challenges, but also are enablers of government that the framers could not have envisioned. It is a giant task to re-write the Constitution, but I believe we should continue to seek a more perfect union.

It needs to take a 180-degree turn before it completely degenerates into fascism. I'm not promoting going all the way to the left, just somewhere closer to the center than the current right-wing extremism. A government motivated by corporate greed can't possibly have the best interests of its citizens at heart. I'm constantly amazed at the people who continue to support this administration even though nothing it has done benefits the general public in any way. It has only helped the politicians and their friends to grow rich and powerful, and they don't care how many people wind up in poverty in the process.

We have a government 'of the people'. The current government is being controlled by corporations who pretend to be 'persons' legally, but are actually pathologically insane according to their charters.
These corporations get their power from our money and our work. If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your vote and the machines don't count.
