The restaurant certainly has some responsibility here. They are the ones who knew before now that they were going to be moving. You don't have time to pick another place, so they should pay you for the inconvenience, or make it up some other way. In any case, you have to let the guests know about the change. A note would be appropriate and I would certainly suggest RSVP, with a follow up note on the old place directing any guests who don't get the new message where they moved to.

It would be nice to have the restaurant take responsibility and send out notes, but only in a perfect world. They'll screw it up somehow. Do it yourself, just a note and make them pay for the costs, or better than that get something extra out of it for the reception. Maybe you should wait til people have RSVPed before sending out notes because it may mean you send out less notes. The only thing that would worry me is how do you know for sure everyone gets the note and that they don't show up at the wrong place. Maybe make phone calls a week after sending out the notes.

yes rsvp it and call eveyone you invited and tell them abnout the change in location of the reception cause it would be a waste of your money if you sent it out and didn't inform anyone of the changes made..

Would you be able to designate someone to telephone or just mail out the new location--not the whole invitation--too over the top

i would request the owner or manager of the restaurant print up either new invitations or send out notes to your guests.
