A fashion show in Spain banned all rail thin models from participating in it's fashion show saying they are too skinny and sending a bad message out to kids who are developing eating disorders in their attempts to imitate what they see in fashion etc.

The Madrid show is using the body mass index or BMI -- based on weight and height -- to measure models. It has turned away 30 percent of women who took part in the previous event.

So they are trying to promote a healthier woman...healthier weight than the heroin addict look that's been in.

The Mayor of Italy said she would do the same there. I applaud this as should women everywhere. Agree or disagree?

I agree woman seem to be either at one end of the scale or the other...but honestly...I think with women looking like real women again and promoted as such...you won't have as many depressed women (and therefore perhaps overeating) and maybe people will focus on just being happy again rather than aiming for the impossible or settling for depression as the alternative...I agree...obesity is a problem...but it's linked to fast foods...they need a shaking up too and to start making healthier products. Hope it catches on, all of it.

I think it's wonderful! The impossible images are force fed down women's throats, and often times, manufacturers cut their clothes based upon non existent body types. Since the fashion show industry is where buyers order clothes, or copy the clothes, it does matter all the way down to our level because we BUY the clothes! Once we frustrate ourselves that they don't look proper on us the way they look in the magazines, many women and girls starve themselves into having no hips or butt!! So I for one, think it's a great idea.

Agree. - I think women should try to lose weight for health reasons not because everyone we see on TV looks like the chick from Nightmare before Christmas. On the other hand I also think that we should try to maintain a healthy weight for us. It seems like as Americans a lot of us are on one of two extremes on the weight scale.

FINALLY!

some role models that aren't all stick thin and blonde.

seriously this is an amazing idea and i totally agree with all of it. at the very least all of those models who are dangerously thin then can get themselves healthy again without having to worry about not getting jobs.

why didn't anyone come up with this sooner?

Thats awesome. Wonder if that kinda stuff will ever get to America? Those anorexics are nasty looking. A woman has to be a little fluffy at lest.

yehay!

i applaud good common sense at long last!

most men prefer women with a few curves anyway rather than the sour-faced overdressed coat-hangers we get confronted with in the name of 'fashion' that doesn't look like anyone that WE know!
