Does anyone know why my Sims 2 game keeps crashing? I have all the requirements for the game, and as soon as I load the game, it tells me that the Application has performed an illegal operation and will now terminate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I have a Gateway Laptop

It sounds like some sort of fight going on with your resources in processing the software with your hardware.
A really good test to run is here
In the black box, pick The Sims 2 - or the version in question

Then after the test runs, if you see red marks, those are the things you need to fix.
Laptops tend to run hot when playing the Sims 2, but since you haven't played it an hour before it crashes, I think the problem is not overheating but in the way your hardware and software cannot work together. So run the test and check.

Do you have anti-virus software running? This will cause crashes every time you play. I would suggest reinstalling, and then when you play, turn off your anti-virus before you load the game.

I have Sims 2, and it takes up A LOT of memory, your computer probbabliy can't hold it. That happend to me, until I got a new computer.
