I hear a lot about computer software grads and engineering grads getting really good jobs, but can an OPTION in CIS get me a information systems job? I like the idea of an IT Auditor(blend of accounting and CIS). The option in CIS is 24 units(like 6 classes). The option in accounting fullfils all requirements for the CPA exam.

There was a published study (I don't remember the authors) that claimed to show that students who concentrated in one field of study earned significantly more than students who divided their time and attention between multiple fields of study.

You might want to put yourself in the shoes of potential employers. If you needed an accountant, would you want to hire someone who has majored in accounting or an economics major who might have fulfilled the minimum requirement? Which student do you think will actually know the difference EBT and EBTD?

Specialized fields like accounting or CIS needs total committment for outstanding performance. Part-time majors have a hard time competeing against them in the job market.

My advise is to be specialised in your business course. go for professional certification for the computer minor you are interested in. there are so many computerised accounting software out there and the one your study in your option may not be the one your future employer is using.

you should check with your guidance counselor and collect more information before you proceed.
