I wasn't commenting on the success or failure of any ventures. I was simply saying it is ignorant to say that France is isolationist by any means.

I agree with you that France does get involved in world politics, but they should consider being less involved.
They've had their butts handed to them so many times that they're lucky French is still spoken. One day France is going to stick their nose into something where it shouldn't belong (again), and no one is going to save them because they've pissed off all their friends.

Vietnam? Oh yeah, that's a REAL French victory there. What a QUAGMIRE. Quebec??? YOu EVER been to Quebec? WWI? Where the Brits and the US saved their butts AGAIN? Revolutionary War? Napolean, a short man with big aspirations, got beat by his own country..
EVER hear of the GERMAN invasion of Paris? THEY LET the GERMANS MARCH right on in.

What people fail to realize is that France was just trying to protect it's markets in the Mid East and we tromped all over them.
Hasn't French bashing become passe'?
