Go up to him 1st ask him if he is going you don't want to just aks him and him not even be going you know...And then if he is going ask him if he has thought of anyone to go with if he says he doesnt know who he is going with or hasn't ask you by now say something like i've thought of who I want to go with but he doesnt know who he is going with pause to see if he is going to ask then if not say do you want to join me to the dance : )

If you really like this guy, then go ask him. I mean the worst he can do is say now. Plus, if he says no...then your much better than him! Good Luck!
