Wow I have the same problem too! I thought that I solved that problem, but a week ago my washer ate another one. What I've been doing is washing my socks with just clothing and NOT bed sheets... for a few years that worked well, or so I thought... thinking that they were getting caught in the fitted sheet (where the elastic is on the corner, they seem to get caught up in the curve of the elastic part)... Try washing them with just your other clothing only (no towels, bed sheets, anything that they could get caught up with)... or safety pin them together before you put them in the washer... that way they will be together and if they get lost they will be lost together.

Ok! Let's set up a website called SWAPSOCK! Where each member can swap socks with another member, who has the same missing colour/size. I am currently after a size 9-11 cotton black, left footed sock, originally purchased from ASDA.

They are meeting up with my socks. I have so many socks that are no longer a pair and I don't want to get rid of them just in case they turn up again.

Socks are lightweight and love to escape over the top of the drum to inbetween the walls of the drum and machine. A simple trick: place a rubber band around each pair of socks.

Unmatched socks are often not recognized as quickly as those that are paired up. Kind of an "out of sight out of mind" situation really. These socks often get misplaced easily once their mates are not paired up with them from washer to dryer to clothes basket destinations. By the way, have you checked your dryer vent and behind the washer/dryer units? These are also places of "hiding by the lone socks" as they end up being flipped over or under them while loading the units.

There is a very simple way to keep them from "leaving home." Pin each pair of socks together with a safety pin...one of my precious Mother's little tricks.
