Most definitely Oprah rules and she's in a league of her own! I have watched Oprah from the very beginning and over the years she has evolved with the times and grown both as a person and a celebrity. But I believe it is her own human qualities & spiritual growth, not her celebrity, that defines Oprah - she speaks from her heart and truly is an inspiration to us all. I have great respect for Oprah.
Dr. Phil, on the other hand, has lost my interest and my respect. In the beginning, when Oprah first introduced him to her show I was very impressed by him and glad when he got his own show. I thought he was an extremely intelligent, compassionate man, who's focus and genuine intent was to help people - and in the beginning that probably was the case. But now, I think Dr. Phil has fallen into the "celebrity" trap and the content of his show has suffered as a consequence - it's value is strictly for the entertainment factor now. His whole approach, advice and philosophy is getting repetitive and old. He's constantly promoting himself, his books and his son's books (now another celebrity, by association) on his show. I no longer watch him.
I think Oprah is the real deal.

I think they're doing different things. Oprah's on top in terms of her vision and reach, though. She saw that Dr. Phil could help viewers in a particular way and ushered him into that spot. I think that she's also behind the new Rachael Ray show. That's a wise businesswoman for you: specialize in the things that you do best, locate experts in the other stuff...but keep it all within your empire. Genious.
