I only watched the first season in pieces and some of the last two seasons, usually just the auditions for fun. My style of music is not and had never been represented on these shows. Rockstar Supernova is more in the line of what I like as far as their song selections, but once the competition is over, I will never buy one of Supernova's albums. It takes a lot for me to like a band to begin with, and a these prefabricated singers are not on my to-do list.

The popularity of American Idol has increased. However to me it is becoming boring and predictable. The judges seem to make the same predictable comments, Paula tells everyone how good they are, Simon makes fun of Paula and then she pretends to get angry with him. Randy has his same old "what's up dog"... Boring...
Meanwhile the people who are really bad singers are just planted there by the producers of the show for our amusement and even that is getting to be quite tiresome.

I think it's gone up according to ratings, but in my book it's way down. I only watched the first two seasons, and then it got a little too dull for me.

In my book, it definitely has. Kelly Clarkson is the only one that has gone somewhere further in the music industry. I don't ever see Ruben, Carrie, or Taylor anywhere, and that bad movie on Lifetime with Fantasia. How ridiculous is it to play yourself based on a book that you wrote?
