I don't know about the Class A but he won back-to-back state championships at 145 in high school. He then went to Belleville Area College and Lincoln college where he earned all-american for the junior college circuit, after his sophmore year he got a scholarship from Eastern Ill. U and won all american for the next two years as a division 1 wrestler (he finished 8th his junior year and 5th his senior)

Yep...that's why Hughes is a legit bada** and is able to win "shoots"--aka "real fights". Hughes is a native of Hillsboro, Illinois....
