The sport of curling is nothing like curling weights. The object of the game is to get the stone as close to the "tee" hole in the center of both circles at the opposite end of the "court". A person slides the stone down the ice and peopl with brooms curl the ice in front of the stone, thus the name curling. when the court is made they put a sheet of ice down and take warm water and drop the tiniest drops of the water to make little bumps that freeze instantly. When the curlers broom the ice, it creates friction which melts the micro beads and all of the stone is touching the ice which slows the stone down.

No, they are different. The sport of curling involves a team of three people. It's sorta like shuffleboard but on ice.
