I don't feel it is anything to celebrate. I think its a day to remember those lost, and grieve.
But congress disagrees with me. Its officially been Patriot's Day since December 18th, 2001.
And some schools (like the one my little sister goes to) already get the day off. In my opinion, they shold not, as it is the perfect day to go to school and learn, about the world, about the attacks, about other tragedies in American history, about the U.S. foreign policy before and after 9/11, etc. not just another day to sit around and play x box in your pjs until dinner.

is Pearl Harbor Day a federal Holiday? just like the attack on Normandy in WWII is not a federal holiday. like V-E Day is not a holiday.
Why would you think that 9/11 should be a holiday? Being a student and all, you just want another day off from school. i know you speak for the future students, but be logical

I'm always for another Holiday. But because it was 9/11 no. Is there a federal day for Pear Harbor? No, so why start now.
More people died from slavery (which the government perpetuated) than 9/11. IF they make 9/11 a holiday I would think one should also be made for the tragedy of the Native Americans and Black people. More people died from those two tragedies.

More importantly, they should make Election Day a national holiday so everyone gets the opportunity to vote! It works for other countries!
I suppose it would be a good idea, but I really don't need to see the towers go down once a year...I feel like they glorify the violence more then actually mourn the victims.

I'm divided on this one, mainly because I don't see the point in making it a federal day. On the other hand, we did lose a lot of lives on that unfortunate day, most of the deaths are the very people who courageously put their lives on the line each day to keep us safe and sound.

No. Is Pearl Harbour a "federal day"? That was directly responsible for millions of dead - many of them American. Is the anniversary of the Columbine massacre, or the Oklahoma bombing a "federal day"? Just because something is new it doesn't make it more tragic.

No! I don't like the spectacle it has already become for politicians, especially when it comes one day before our primary!
We know they were victims of someone! That somebody we aren't really clear on how involved they really were and if we had any involvement with 9/11! And if we did, what wasit?
The government is not telling us the truth, and I would like the truth about what happened on that day! Look at Pearl Harbor. We all know know how the Japanese were suckered into attacking the US (Cutting off all their resources) and there is plenty of evidence that we knew they were going to attack Pearl Harbor!!

Speaking as a government employee with personal ties to the tragedy (friends died), I would like to see it become a holiday. It's not just to get another day off, but also to honor the tragedy. However, you could argue that other tragedies should be remembered similarly, such as Pearl Harbor Day. I also think there should be a holiday in March to honor Cesar Chavez and the labor movement.
