When you first feel the tingle next time, take an ice cube and place it on your lip until it is melted away. It will be tender at first, but you will numb up afterwards.

This will actually stop it from coming out and does reduce incidence.

Also, Colds soars are virus that lives in the nerve endings. When you get too much sun, are too dry because you haven't had a lot of water, or under stress, they tend to come out.

L-Lysine is an ammino acid you can buy over the counter as a supplimant that stops the replication of the virus as well. Make sure you take a daily vitamin, and you might want to suppliment daily with L-lysine 500mcg.

Zovirax is the treatment of choice and can be in a cream and pill. I take the pill when I get an outbreak, with the ice, and it bearly, if at all comes out. If it does, it's so small, and goes away in literally two days with the cream.

But once you miss the prodromal (or the tingling stage) with the ice and zovirex, you will get a big one.

With L-lysine and using the ice, you can reduce your incidene to maybe once or twice a year.

Hope that helps!

PS Remember it IS contagious and if you kiss or have oral sex with someone, you can give it to them when it is in it's prodromal stage.

The only difference between Herpes I (a cold soar) and Herpes II (herpes in the genetalia is LOCATION.

The virus is the same, so protect your partner, and don't have any contact until it is completely gone.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

PS Always check with your doctor before taking any medications or treatments! (My disclaimer)

Abreva on the outside and 1000mg of Lysine everyday until it's gone... will be gone in 1/3 of the time.

after that take 1000 mg of Lysine any time you feel the "tingling" just before a cold sore

zoforax (hope I spelt that right ) use it as soon as you get the first tingling sensation. It generally prevents cold sores before they appear but in any case will treat in couple of days. You can buy it over the counter at chemist.

Abreva does work wonders. And you only need a little. If it's big, or spreading, go see a DR and get a prescription cream. And wash your hadns everytime you touch it. And because "Nobody looks hot in a codl sore" you can use a neutral tone lip gloss (with a shine) to cover it up.

if the cold sore is open then put a little bit of perfume on it and in a day or two it will be gone and dried up.... also keep moisture on your lips as well....
